Staff of the Center for Democracy and Citizenship create and conduct
workshops and presentations that bridge theory and practice and provide
space for reflection. Training is tailored for different audiences,
including young people and adults. Topics include:
- How professional work can contribute to the public good
- Neighborhood-based civic engagement
- Creating space for conversation among immigrants and welcoming
communities
- Issue development and citizen action
- Understanding power
- Organizing through relationship-building
- Democratic evaluation
- Democratic governance
- Civic life in higher education
- Public action and working with the media
- Training for Public Achievement coaches
Harry Boyte, co-director of the center and a nationally-recognized
political theorist, is available to speak on civic engagement and
democratic renewal.
